Why measure time with a candle

The presence of a living flame creates a unique atmosphere. A candle is clearly a more calming timekeeping tool compared to a phone timer, an egg timer, or watching a wall clock.

Watching a slowly dwindling candle creates natural short micro-breaks in your work. Staring at the flame helps you think and at the same time reminds you of the existence of the task at hand.

The extinguishing of a candle also has its own symbolism. Taking breaks is important so that you don't burn yourself out like a candle.

Clean burning

Concentration candles are made of pure Finnish beeswax and do not contain dyes or fragrances. The candles have a mild honey-like scent from the beeswax and burn smokelessly in a draft-free environment.

You can safely burn candles daily or even multiple pieces on the same day.

Focus in the candlelight

You need one concentration candle and a non-flammable base. For example, a clay plate intended for indoor plants works excellently for this purpose.

Warm the base of the concentration candle for a moment with the flame of another candle, a match, or a lighter. Place the concentration candle upright on a plate as straight as possible and wait a moment for the wax at its base to solidify.

When the candle is securely in place, light it. Now you have a fair hour to study, write, or perform any other task that requires concentration. When the candle burns out and extinguishes, it's time to stop working and take a short break.
