Metsätuvan hunaja comes from the rural landscapes of Herttuala, Hämeenkyrö. The polyfloral honey collected from fallow fields, heaths, and the shade of spruces is soft in texture and has a nuanced honey-like flavor.

From the hive to the extractor, from the extractor to the container, and from the container to the jar

Metsätuvan hunaja has not been heated, processed, mechanically filtered, or treated harshly at any stage of production. The honey has been freely drained from the extractor through a sieve, and any wax particles that have risen to the surface have been removed while in the container. Since the honey is not separately filtered, it still contains small amounts of pollen.

The freshly spun Voimainen honey gets its soft texture from the crystallization of honey jarred the previous summer. The crystallization model is added to the fresh honey in containers, where the honeys are mixed gently by hand with a paddle for a few days. When the honey begins to show a pearlescent sheen while mixing, it is ready to be jarred. After jarring, the honey is allowed to crystallize peacefully into its final Voimainen form at around 14 degrees Celsius.

The Metsätuvan hunaja currently on sale is from the 2025 vintage, so its best before date is 27.8.2027. When stored properly, honey generally remains usable for much longer. The most important thing is that the honey must not get moisture. Therefore, it should not be stored in the refrigerator.
